24GHz microwave radar sensor is widely used in vehicle active safety, intelligent transportation, safety protection, industrial applications and uav collision avoidance. Receiving antenna, as the key reproductive device of radar sensor, plays a "throat" effect in radar sensor. On the one hand, it needs to transmit rf signals as much as possible. On the other hand, it is necessary to cover the radar wave to a suitable area. According to the author's experience, the commonly used 24GHz receiver antennas in China and abroad include microstrip array receiver antenna, horn receiver antenna, media substrate integrated waveguide receiver antenna (SIW) and lens receiver antenna. Considering the size and system of radar sensor, the most popular receiving antenna in the commercial field is the microstrip receiving antenna. Microstrip receiving antennas are printed on high frequency PCBs, and with the help of mature PCB processing technology, the preset manufacturers can minimize costs to the extreme.


The polarization form is a closed parameter representing the electromagnetic wave, which is voted by the radar receiving antenna. Commonly used polarization form wired polarization and circular polarization two kinds. Linear polarization is divided into straight polarization, horizontal polarization and oblique polarization. The polarization form of radar receiving antenna is different, which will cause the different nature of the amplitude and phase of the target echo, and further affect the sensitivity of radar detection observation. Because of this, the special nature of scattering has the guiding significance of closing the radar receiving antenna preset. The special scattering properties of high voltage line are studied in the application environment of electric line patrol uav. In order to explore the special scattering properties of power line to incident wave with different linear polarization, the special scattering properties of high voltage line at 24GHz are analyzed by simulation method.


Firstly, the simulation plate was set up, and the electric power line was simulated with a thin cylindrical conductor. The diameter of the cylindrical line was set as R_wire, and the length was set as 20λ0. The simplest incident surface wave is set to simulate the electromagnetic wave emitted by radar and receiving antenna. A field inductor is set at the position of the incident source to simulate the radar antenna to collect reflected power line waves. The included Angle between the polarization direction of incident wave and the extension direction of power line is φ _step.


High frequency simulation software based on finite element method is used for simulation. R_wire was fixed as 0.67λ0, and the development direction of RCS (radar scattering profile) with φ _STEP was analyzed under horizontal polarization and vertical polarization. As can be seen from the final result in FIG. 3, when the polarization direction of incident wave and the extension direction of power line change from parallel to straight (φ _step changes from 0° to 90°), RCS gradually increases, but the change value is within 0.6dB. Fixed φ _step at 0°, the development direction of RCS with R_wire under horizontal polarization and vertical polarization was analyzed. As can be seen from the final result in Figure 4, RCS in both polarization forms increases with the increase of R_wire. When R_wire is less than 0.5λ0, the RCS curve in both forms presents a rising and rising condition, but the change value is less than 1.5dB. When R_wire is greater than 0.5λ0, the RCS of vertical polarization is greater than that of horizontal polarization, and the variation value is less than 0.6dB.
